Indian actor Uppalapati Venkata Suryanarayana Prabhas Raju was born on October 23, 1979, and he primarily performs in Telugu films. Listed on Forbes India's Celebrity 100 list since 2015, Prabhas is one of the highest-paid actors in Indian film and has been nominated for seven Filmfare Awards, one Nandi Award, one SIIMA Award, and more. In the action romance Varsham (2004), Prabhas achieved his breakthrough performance after making his acting debut in the Telugu play Eeswar in 2002. Several of his best-known films include Chatrapathi (2005), Bujjigadu (2008), Billa (2009), Darling (2010), Mr. Perfect (2011), and Mirchi (2013), for which he received the Nandi Award for Best Actor.
Early life
Born in Madras, Tamil Nadu, to film producers Uppalapati Surya Narayana Raju and Siva Kumari, Prabhas came from a Telugu-speaking household. He is the youngest of three children; his older siblings are Pragathi and Prabodh. He is the nephew of actor Krishnam Raju from Telugu films. His family comes from Mogalthur, which is in the Andhra Pradesh region of West Godavari, close to Bhimavaram. Prabhas attended DNR High School in Bhimavaram and Don Bosco Matriculation Higher Secondary School in Chennai for his education. After that, he finished his intermediate studies in Hyderabad's Nalanda College. He also graduated from Visakhapatnam's Satyanand Film Institute.
Career
Prabhas's film career began in 2002 with the release of Eeswar. He had the major role in Raghavendra in 2003. He made appearances in Adavi Raamudu and Varsham in 2004. For his role in the former, he was nominated for the Filmfare Award for Best Actor – Telugu for the first time. He made appearances in the S. S. Rajamouli films Chakram and Chatrapathi in 2005, where he played a refugee who is taken advantage of by thugs. It ran in 54 centres for 100 days.
