Born on September 22, 1994, Park Jin-young is a South Korean singer, actor, and composer. He is better known by his moniker, Jinyoung, and by his previous aliases, Jr. and Junior. He is a member of the boy bands JJ Project and Got7. After making his acting debut in the drama Dream High 2 (2012), he went on to play a number of supporting parts until landing a lead in the 2019 film He Is Psychometric. In the indie film A Stray Goat (2016), he made his screen debut.
Early Life Abd Career
Although Jinyoung was raised in Yongwon-dong, Jinhae-gu, his grandparents still live on Udo Island, Jinhae-gu, Changwon, where he was born. Since his fifth year of elementary school, he had aspirations of being a performer and appearing on television. Jinyoung's mother was against it and sent him to an audition for SM Entertainment while he was in his sixth year of education, promising that he would quit up if he didn't make it through the final round of preliminary rounds and win the popularity award.
He enrolled in dancing courses at the Busan dancing School in Seomyeon and Haeundae during the winter break of his first middle school year, despite the family's lack of support. For the first three months, he didn't take it seriously until his father chastised him. He was able to dance after three months of rigorous training, and in 2009 he went to JYP Entertainment and won first place in the open audition, which had over 10,000 candidates, with Jay B. He then relocated to Seoul by himself. He was solely into dancing at the moment, but after giving his future some serious thought, he discovered that he also enjoyed music in its whole.
After taking acting lessons for six months, Jinyoung was chosen to play Jung Ui-bong in the 2011 TV series Dream High 2. KBS aired the drama first on January 30, 2012. Along with Jinwoon, Kang So-ra, and Kim Ji-soo, he released the song "We Are The B" for the drama's soundtrack on February 29. Jinyoung and fellow trainee Jay B made their debut as JJ Project in May 2012 with the release of their single album Bounce. The news of his casting as Ddol-yi on MBC's upcoming drama When a Man Falls in Love was released on March 11, 2013. The show debuted on April 3 and ran for twenty episodes. Jinyoung made his vocal debut with JYP Entertainment's new boy group Got7 on January 16, 2014.
Personal Life
He went to Howon University and Gyeonggi High School. It was announced on November 25, 2022, that Jinyoung will be joining the army in March 2023. The agency then announced that the date of enlisting is still pending. It was officially announced on April 5, 2023, that Jinyoung will enrol as an active duty army on May 8.
